• Size Inclusive Company Highlight: Megan Nielsen and the Briar sweater and t shirt

Hi sewing friends! I’m not sure how many of you that read my blog follow me on Instagram, but a few weeks ago I posted a picture and then brain dumped about an incident that happened in an indie designer’s facebook group. I asked a question in the group about how the way their sizes were named, it gave the false indication that they were a size inclusive company but when you looked at the actual measurements it was a different story. I was met with comments about how I was entitled, and also how if I wanted clothes that fit me I should go learn how to draft…

  • Fall sewing: George + Ginger RuLo Dress

We’re knee deep in summer in Phoenix (it’s currently 109 today) so it’s safe to say I’ve been ready for fall since…June. Other states have harsh winters where they don’t go outside but for Phoenix, that’s summer for us. In an attempt to get ahead of my fall sewing so that I can maximize the amount of times I get to wear long sleeves and pants after summer is over, I’ve been trying to plan out what patterns I really wanted to sew up for fall-spring. The last few weeks I’ve been trying to slowly sew up those garments and my most recent make is probably my new favorite.  …

  • Pattern Scout Fern top dress hack

Happy Tuesday sewing friends!   Have you been sewing for a minute and find yourself always wishing you could take a stab at hacking a pattern but something holds you back? That’s been me for like…3 years. Even the easiest hack has me stopping in my tracks if it doesn’t have instructions to go along with it. Something about a pattern makes me feel safe, and when I try to deviate from the given options I instantly get so nervous I’m going to do something wrong and mess up. I know there’s always more fabric, or it’s just fabric but…I love my fabric. I never want to mess it up…

  • Testing the Yanta Overalls

April was a busy, busy month for me. My sister in law was getting married in the middle of it, then it was my 30th birthday, and then my husband had a work trip to San Francisco that I tagged along to. Before we left, I told myself I wouldn’t sign up for a pattern test while we were out of town, but when Helen sent out the tester call email for these overalls…I resisted for a whole 15 minutes. Knowing that I’d have access to my aunt’s sewing machine and serger while visiting New Orleans, I quickly changed my mind and signed up. It was actually really fun to…

  • Hello friends!

Welcome to my sewing blog! Seeing as how I’m just starting this up, I figured an introduction was in order. My name’s Leanne and I’m based out of Phoenix, AZ. I’m a 30 year old sewist who has the sweetest husband and the 2 cutest cats you’d ever meet. My love for sewing is a newfound one, but it runs deep already. Growing up my house was full of sewing machines and fat quarters. My mom loved all things Singer and quilting and my aunt dabbled in garment sewing. I’m from a family of craftaholics so I grew up trying anything and everything that held my interest. And honestly? Sewing…
